Choosing Appliances

Ovens

  • Always choose pyrolytic (self-cleaning).
  • Always choose Australian or European, preferably German!
  • If you are only including one oven in your new kitchen, consider one that includes 'full' steam capabilities.
  • If you are considering a full-size and compact oven consider the following options: full-size pyrolytic and compact combi steam; or full-size combi steam and compact combi microwave.

Microwaves

  • Choose a built-in (integrated) model
  • Choose convection microwave over a model that offers only microwaving, or
  • Consider a compact combi microwave allowing the flexibility to use your microwave as a second oven.

Cooktops

  • Preferably induction!
  • Always European!
  • If you must have gas, always go for 'Gas on Glass' for easy cleaning, or choose modular cooktops where you can have both gas and induction.

Dishwashers

  • Always fully integrated or semi integrated over free-standing.
  • Always choose the best brand you can buy - all dishwashers use minimal water & energy today so cleaning score and noise should be your highest priorities.
  • 60cm always over 45cm.
  • Always choose European.
  • Always choose a "tall tank" model which will accommodate both large plates and long stem glasses.

Steam Ovens

  • YES!!
  • Always choose combi steam over steam only!
  • The bigger, the better.

Built-In Coffee Machines

Only if there is one that matches your ovens. Choices include - Bosch, Fisher & Paykel, Miele, Neff, Siemens, Smeg & VZug, otherwise consider a fully automatic bench top model from DeLonghi, Jura or Saeco.

Refrigeration

Your fridge can be the best looking or worst looking feature of your kitchen, unfortunately, in most cases, it's the worst!

If you have a newer fridge in excellent condition, we can work to make it fit into your new kitchen. Otherwise, we recommend -

  • Integrating your fridge behind panels (AEG, Asko, Bosch, Fisher & Paykel, Liebherr, Miele, & Siemens) for the ultimate designer look or choosing the same brand fridge as your oven/s so that you have matching handles across your appliances.

Rangehoods

So much to choose from, the model that will be right for you will depend on your final kitchen design. Options include:

  • Downdrafts;
  • Undermount (integrated);
  • Wall and Island Canopy

All of these different models will have a performance option that is suitable for you cooking style.

  • Slide-out models, definitely not!
  • Preferably ducted.

Wine Cellars

  • Yes.
  • Wine cellars add an inexpensive design feature to your kitchen.
